Paved
I
can’t find you in the land I’ve been treading.
This
soil is eroded with the ashes of the life that used to be.
The
water is tainted and I can’t drink.
Let’s
live forever in a home that’s fallen down.
Together
we can remember the path we rolled along.
Letting
our colors fly and the wind carrying us far, far away.
Up
on a jet plane or floating on a balloon.
The
pressure forces us to drop, before crashing entirely.
A
fiery ball, we land so hard, the whole Earth shakes.
Lost in the midst of this place of sorrow.
My
legs sink deeper and deeper into the muck.
The
spirits within have surrendered to the madness.
Forget
that we ever were.
All
memories of the time we shared scattered to the cosmos.
They
can cherish them, because we have no more use for them.
Don’t
allow this agony to swallow us.
Finding
neverland can be our goal.
A
place where we can live again.
All
the tears and fears and searing pain will be consigned to history.
We
can reach a day when we look back and laugh.
It
may seem far, but I know it can be reached.
I
will wander onwards in search of us.
Somewhere
in this wasteland is the home we can rebuild.
Somewhere
out there is a life we can reclaim.
Drunk
on this infectious idea that we can be together.
Our
bodies weak, our light fading.
Closing
our eyes to the dying of the night.
