I Don't Want to Leave
I’ll stay here. Stuck in this moment between sanity and
reality, where only our heartbeats and dreams exist.
There’s nothing outside this room that can match what we’re
feeling right here, right now.
This is how it ought to be. You and I intertwined in the
comfort of these sheets. Our warm bodies tangled together.
With our mortal needs left at the door, waiting outside
until the heart of the sun fades to black, I gave up whatever power I had to
leave this room and to leave this bed, so I may stay here with you.
As we speak in quiet voices that only angels can hear and
only demons can discern, it drives me mad that there are no words to express
how beautiful you look in the faint light of the growing night.
I don’t want to leave. There’s been a war inside my mind all
my life, but here with you, I finally found peace.
