Earth's Final Day
All form fell apart like ice in warm water. There was a
whisper, then a look, then silence. There, watching the Earth that had been
abandoned eons ago, were countless eyes waiting for the inevitable. The final
collapse of a once proud world.
The dying sun seemed to be reaching for Her. Desiring its
old friend’s company before it too slipped into oblivion. In a flash, the star
retreated into itself. Pulling the barren planet with it. At long last, it was
over. Billions of years vanished in an instant.
Some cried. Some clapped. Most were silent. A solitary voice then softly spoke, “None here were
alive when we left Earth, but none here would be alive if it hadn’t been for Her.”
